Travel from Fes to Marrakech the scenic way, via the Sahara. This 5-day private tour crosses the Middle Atlas and its Berber villages, follows the Ziz Valley with its huge palm groves and takes you into the Erg Chebbi dunes for a camel ride and a night in a desert camp.
On the way to Marrakech, discover the Todra and Dades Gorges, the Valley of Roses, the kasbahs of Skoura and Ouarzazate and the UNESCO-listed Ait Ben Haddou, before crossing the High Atlas over the Tizi n'Tichka pass.

Day-by-day itinerary
1Day 1: Fes – Ifrane – Azrou – Midelt – Ziz Valley – Erfoud – Merzouga
Early pick-up from your hotel in Fes. Drive through Berber villages to Ifrane, the “Swiss” town of Morocco, and on to the cedar forest of Azrou. After lunch in Midelt, follow the Ziz Valley to Erfoud and Merzouga. Dinner and overnight in a hotel.2Day 2: Merzouga 4x4 tour, nomads and camel ride
Explore the area around the Erg Chebbi dunes by 4×4, visiting Khamlia, Hassi Labied and Rissani and meeting nomad families. In the late afternoon, ride a camel into the dunes to watch the sunset. Dinner, Berber songs and a night in a traditional desert camp.3Day 3: Merzouga – Erfoud – Tinghir – Todra Gorge – Dades
After breakfast, drive via Erfoud to Tinghir and the Todra Gorge, where cliffs rise more than 300 m. Continue to the Dades Gorge for dinner and the night in a riad.4Day 4: Dades – Kelaat M'Gouna – Skoura – Ouarzazate
Drive to Kelaat M’Gouna, home of the annual Rose Festival, and through the Valley of Roses to the Amridil Kasbah in the Skoura oasis. In Ouarzazate, visit Taourirt Kasbah. Dinner and overnight in a hotel or kasbah.5Day 5: Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – Telouet – Marrakech
Visit a film studio in Ouarzazate, then Ait Ben Haddou, one of the most picturesque places in Morocco. Take the scenic route via Telouet Kasbah and cross the High Atlas to the imperial city of Marrakech, where the tour ends.

The driving alone is worth the price of admission! You get to see so much of the Atlas Mountains and stop in so many cool villages. Ali is an excellent driver who is well-versed in these routes. The desert camp was stunning, and my first camel ride was unforgettable.

This company was fantastic! You get a lot out of it. Ali, our driver, was extremely helpful. He picked us up in Fes, drove us to the camel camp, and then drove us back to Marrakesh. He made sure our belongings were safe and showed us all the tourist attractions along the way. I wholeheartedly recommend it! Also, the gentleman who helped me make reservations was fantastic.
