Day-by-day itinerary

  1. 1Day 1: Marrakech – Tizi n'Tichka – Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate – Dades
Your driver picks you up from your hotel or riad at 8:30 and heads over the High Atlas via the Tizi n’Tichka pass (2,260 m), with photo stops for the mountain views and Berber villages. Visit Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987, and have lunch nearby. In Ouarzazate, see Taourirt Kasbah and the Atlas Film Studios, then drive through the Skoura palm grove and the Valley of Roses, home to a rose festival every May, to the Dades Valley. Dinner and overnight in a hotel or riad with a view of the valley.
  2. 2Day 2: Dades – Tinghir – Todra Gorge – Tinejdad – Erfoud – Merzouga camel ride
Drive through Tinghir and its Berber villages, stopping above the palm-filled Todra Valley, then walk between the 300 m pink-and-grey cliffs of the Todra Gorge, one of Morocco’s top rock-climbing spots. After lunch in Touroug or Tinejdad, continue via Erfoud and the Tafilalet oasis to Merzouga. Ride a camel into the Erg Chebbi dunes (about 1.5 hours), stopping to watch the sunset and try sandboarding. At camp you are welcomed with mint tea, followed by dinner, a campfire and music.
  3. 3Day 3: Full day in the Merzouga area – nomads, Khamlia and the dunes
After sunrise and breakfast, explore the desert by 4×4: the gardens and irrigation channels of the Hassi Labied oasis, the seasonal lake of Dayet Srij (when there is water), Khamlia and its Gnawa music, and the old Mifis mines, in an area known for its minerals and fossils. Visit a nomad family for mint tea. After lunch, stop at viewpoints on the way back to the village. Dinner and overnight in a hotel overlooking the dunes.
  4. 4Day 4: Merzouga – Ziz Valley – Errachidia – Midelt – Azrou – Ifrane – Fes
After a hearty breakfast, drive north through the Ziz Valley and Errachidia, then cross the Middle Atlas, with lunch along the way. Stop in the Azrou cedar forest to see the wild macaques and take a short walk, then pass through Ifrane, “the Little Switzerland of Morocco”. Arrive at your hotel in Fes in the late afternoon.

Traveller reviews

4.8based on 3 reviews

Although it was a bit exhausting (we took a 4-day tour, so imagine travelling for 5, 6, or even 10 hours virtually every day), it was also a lot of fun. We had two guides, Said and Ali, who were very nice and helpful with all of our questions. We felt completely protected with them. The desert stay was my favorite part since you can see so many stars (and even shooting stars) at night, it was beautiful and magnificent. I would definitely recommend this company since they communicate and respond swiftly.

I planned a four-day trip from Marrakech to Fes with my sister and two friends, and it turned out to be an unforgettable experience! From the first conversations with Hamid to plan the trip, through the tour organization and the driver/guide, everything went well and quickly. Hamid always responded quickly to my messages and simply changed our first meeting time. Our driver/guide, Youssef, who met us in Marrakech and escorted us for the full four days, was the perfect match for us. He was an excellent driver with a fantastic sense of humour, as well as being incredibly well organized, attentive, knowledgeable, and adaptive. I highly recommend Morocco's Travel to everyone.

My boyfriend and I took the four-day luxury vacation from Marrakech to Fes, and it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. We were nervous because it was our first time in Morocco and we didn't know what to expect. Our driver and tour guide, Kamal, made our tour genuinely unforgettable by being exceedingly courteous, knowledgeable, and personable and ensuring that we were always taken care of and had the best experience possible. The tour experiences themselves were fantastic, and in the small amount of time we had, we learnt so much about Morocco and its history. The riads where we slept were incredibly luxurious, with each one more gorgeous than the last.
