Day-by-day itinerary
1Day 1: Fes – Ifrane – Azrou – Midelt – Ziz Valley – Merzouga camel ride
Your driver picks you up from your hotel in Fes at 8:30. Drive through Berber villages to Ifrane, “the Switzerland of Morocco”, and the Azrou cedar forest, then stop for lunch in Midelt. Follow the Ziz Valley to Erfoud, known for its fossils, with a viewpoint stop over the oasis, and reach the Erg Chebbi dunes in the late afternoon. Ride a camel (about 1.5 hours) to your camp, stopping to watch the sunset and try sandboarding. Enjoy mint tea, dinner and Berber drumming, then sleep under a sky full of stars.2Day 2: Merzouga – Rissani – Tinghir – Todra Gorge – Dades
Wake early to watch the sunrise, then have breakfast and a shower at camp before returning to your driver by camel or 4×4. On market days (Sunday, Tuesday or Thursday) visit Rissani’s souk. Drive via Touroug and Tinejdad to Tinghir and its palm-filled valley, then walk into the Todra Gorge. After lunch, continue to Boumalne Dades for dinner and the night in a hotel or riad.3Day 3: Dades – Skoura – Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – Tizi n'Tichka – Marrakech
Follow the Valley of Roses via Kelaat M’Gouna and the Skoura palm grove to Ouarzazate, with optional visits to Taourirt Kasbah and the film studios. Explore Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987 and a location for Gladiator and The Mummy, and stop for lunch. Cross the High Atlas over the Tizi n’Tichka pass (2,260 m), enjoying wide views over valleys and villages, and arrive at your accommodation in Marrakech in the afternoon or evening.
