Your three-day desert excursion from Fes to Marrakech begins at 8:30 a.m. when our driver from Sahara Camel Trips organisation picks you up from your hotel in Fes. We’ll have a leisurely drive through Berber settlements on the way to Merzouga. Stop in the lovely city of Ifrane (often referred to as “Moroccan Switzerland”) before continuing to Azrou, a famous cedar forest where you may see monkeys, before stopping for lunch in the town of Midelt. After that, we’ll travel via the lovely Ziz Valley to Erfoud, noted for its fossils and its annual dates market, where we’ll pause to observe a lovely panoramic view with the beauty of the oasis. Later that afternoon, we’ll arrive to the spectacular Erg Chebbi dunes. From here, you’ll go camel trekking to go to our Berber Camp Merzouga. The camel ride takes about an hour and a half, and it includes a stop where you may watch the sunset, try sandboarding if you’re interested in that activity, and snap pictures and enjoy the scenery. Following these lovely moments, you’ll proceed to the camp where you’ll be greeted with a glass of tea and given time to unwind before dinner. Following dinner, there will be some traditional Berber drumming music, and you can then enjoy the starry sky before retiring to your nomadic tent for the night.

Since you’re already in the desert, it’s worth getting up early to catch the sunrise close to your camp this morning. After these lovely moments, you’ll eat breakfast and take a shower at the camp, after which you can either ride camels or take a 4WD transfer back to the starting point to meet your driver. We’ll pass through tiny Berber villages like Touroug, Tinjdad, and the Tinghir where we’ll stop to admire its stunning Todra valley full of palm trees and vegetation as we continue our 3-day trip from Fes to Marrakech. If it’s one of the market days (Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday), we’ll visit the weekly market of Rissani. We proceed to the Todra Gorge, a popular destination for rock climbers at the base of the High Atlas Mountains. After lunch, we take a break before continuing on to Boumalne Dades, where we will arrive in the late afternoon. Dinner will be served, and you will spend the night in a hotel or riad.

Our 3-day desert tour from Fes to Marrakech concludes today. We will continue on to Marrakech via Kalaat M’gouna, Rose Valley, and Skoura Palm Grove. We drive to Ait Benhaddou and stop at its renowned and oldest kasbah after visiting the Kasbah Taourirte and movie studios in Ouarzazate (optional) (declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1986). Famous movies like Gladiator, Obelix, the Mummy, the Jewel of the Nile, and Sahara with Penélope Cruz have all been filmed in this breathtaking location. There is now time for lunch. Our journey continues as we cross the High Atlas Mountains through Tizi Ntichka, Morocco’s highest road pass at 2260 metres above sea level, which provides breathtaking views of the surrounding valleys, mountains, and numerous Berber communities. Arrive in Marrakech in the afternoon or evening, and then take a private taxi from Fes to Marrakech to your accommodation. Tour concludes after three days.
